Mardi Gras Ball channels the carnival spirit of New Orleans

It’s time to embrace the spirit of New Orleans, add a touch of Venetian splendor, and get down with DJ Muva Funker. The Grand Ball will be held at St Mary In the Castle, on Saturday March 2nd starting at 7.30pm. Early bird tickets are available until February 15th and will cost £15 they will then increase to £20 thereafter. Tickets are available from the website www.hastingsfattuesday.co.uk Fat Tuesday will take revelers at the annual Mardis Gras Ball on a journey of true glamour as everyone dresses up and joins in the spectacle that awaits. The festival encourages people to wear their most outrageous outfits; feathers, beads, boas, masks, the lot and there will be a competition for the best dressed person hosted by Hastings Gin, details to be found on the Fat Tuesday App which can be downloaded from the app store.

On arrival guests will be welcomed by stilt walkers in crinoline. A superb all female Mariachi band, Las Adelitas all the way from Mexico will be getting the party started by performing their exquisite yet authentic music. This full on night of festivities will then continue with two live bands: Chantelle Duncan and The Brass Funkeys whilst DJ’ Muva Funker keeps the energy high to the early hours.

The Brass Funkeys draw from the traditions of New Orleans with skilled musicianship, rolling from spirited second line energy to soulful jazz funeral marches and pumping brass driven funk. Reggae, DnB, gypsy, swing and Latin influences are exposed in an eclectic live show revealing a band bursting at the seams with ideas and infectious energy.

Session singer and artist in her own right Chantelle Duncan, has teamed up with husband Greg Heath and her favourite musicians to deliver her own brand of jazz, funk, soul and pop to really get the party going! Chantelle has put together a band of incredibly talented musicians who between them have played with all the greats from Nile Rodgers to Led zeppelin!
