HFT and Sonics presents ‘Pocket Sonics’ this summer – weekly free music sessions for 14 to 25 year old’s interested in experimental music making, electronic music, field recording, noise, creative

Session 1 – Beats and Bars
Tuesday 25th July 10.30am – 1.30pm BOOK NOW HERE
Got Bars? Make beats? come and showcase your skills and make some music with Fraktured Planet in this open studio session.

Session 2 – Field recording + found sound composition
Tuesday 1st August 10.30am – 1.30pm

Exploring found sound through field recording, mixing & other production fun with Ruby Colley. Bring a laptop or smart phone if you have one (not essential)

Session 3 – The warm up slot & reading the crowd 
Tuesday 8th August 10.30am – 1.30pm

Learn how to get your dancefloor vibing, make expert selections & read the crowd! A fun, hands-on session on CDJs and mixer with DJ Emma Joliffe (Lemur Beats/Mixfits). Bring some songs- see booking page for details. 

Session 4 – Analogue Hardware Jam
Tuesday 15th August 10.30am – 1.30pm

Get hands on with some analogue musical instruments like drum machines, modular synths and effects units, then learn some improvising techniques to make music with them in real time, all together! With Tullis Rennie.

Session 5 – Noise: Feedback, Loops, Bashing Stuff and Other Fun
Tuesday 22nd August 10.30am – 1.30pm
BOOKING OPENS 1 WEEK BEFORE
Explore hands-on experimental sound and noise making with James Wvr of Sonics, including no-input mixer feedback, contact mics, fx pedals, bits of metal and random junk. Bring a smart phone or ipad if you have one (not essential).

Session 6 – Creative coding
Tuesday 29th August 10.30am – 1.30pm
